During the years 2025 and 2026, Jordi Garcia and Eva Morey made two trips to the community of Tionck Essyl, in Senegal, with the aim of documenting different aspects of community life and the evolution of the projects promoted by the foundation in the region.

On the second trip, Jordi collaborated with visual artist Flor Cairo (@atelier_florenciacairo), who had previously spent time in the community in February 2026 to strengthen ties with the women through various artistic and participatory workshops. Her work helped create spaces of trust, expression, and intercultural connection that were invaluable for the subsequent development of the documentation.

Beyond the work of visual and human documentation, these trips became an opportunity to strengthen ties with the local community, understand their needs more closely, and open new lines of collaboration for the future.The project was initially born with the intention of developing a recipe book linked to the local culture and the gastronomic traditions of the community. 

However, the experience on the ground caused the proposal to evolve toward a broader perspective, where photography, life stories, collective memory, and cultural identity occupy a central place.

Both trips have been fundamental to laying the groundwork for future collaborations and reinforcing the commitment to continue supporting the development of Tionck Essyl from a cultural, human, and participatory perspective, in collaboration with Foundawtion.
