Drawing and Emotions Workshop

From March 30 to April 3, 2026, Rodrigo Parrón Yuste and Amanda Recio González taught a drawing and emotions workshop aimed at primary school students at the Thionk Essyl school.

Approximately 30 children participated per group, between 9 and 11 years old. The workshop also had the collaboration of Buba, a fundamental local support for group organization, daily accompaniment, and communication with the students.

The main objective of the workshop was to work on the identification, expression, and regulation of basic emotions through drawing, body expression, and simple group dynamics. For this purpose, accessible materials and a visual, practical, and participatory methodology were used, adapted at all times to the context and needs of the group.Over four mornings of work, the activities focused on three main emotions: joy, sadness, and anger.

Each session combined moments of artistic creation, movement, and collective participation, fostering a safe and close space where the children could express themselves freely. The experience was very positive on both an educational and human level.

The workshop demonstrated that drawing can become a very effective pedagogical tool to facilitate communication, start conversations, and offer children a simple and creative avenue for personal expression.

The incorporation of movement, rhythm, and a final exhibition also reinforced the group’s involvement and active participation.
